NMBM metro bus tour

June 9th, 2010

Some pictures of the fantastic metro wide bus tour where the DA had an opportunity to travel throughout the city on the morning of Saturday 5 June 2010 to show our support for the 2010 World Cup.
The tour travelled along the beachfront, through Walmer and stopped off in Qebera Township where we gave away soccer balls, vuvuzelas, SA flags and various fun items to disadvantaged kids. The items were generously donated by many of the World Cup Official Sponsors.
We then moved across the city via William Moffat and stopped in Cleary Park where we again distributed a similar mix of goodies. All in all we gave away 40 soccer balls, over 100 vuvuzelas and many flags, clappers etc.

The bus was very well received by all the residents we encountered and really offered us an opportunity to show the DA’s support for the World Cup and to also give back to some of the needier communities.

February 24th, 2010

The ongoing provincial financial mismanagement in the Eastern Cape continues to have an adverse effect on the smooth running of municipalities. Up to 31 January 2010 several municipalities within the province was owed money by provincial and national departments.

A motion will be tabled by the Democratic Alliance in the Bhisho Legislature yesterday (subs: Tues, 23 Feb) that all outstanding money owed to municipalities by the government be paid in full by the end of the financial year (31 March 2010).
